Onukudelli Tribal Market

Onukudelli, ~90 km from Koraput (toward Malkangiri)

Koraput's famous Thursday haat, where the Bonda and Gadaba communities meet to trade.

Every Thursday, the weekly market at Onukudelli (Onkadelli) fills with people from the surrounding hills — most famously the Bonda and Gadaba communities. It is a living marketplace, not a performance: forest produce, handwoven cloth, pots, beads, herbs and home-brewed drinks change hands much as they have for generations.

Visited the right way — quietly, respectfully, and with a local guide — it is a profound window into one of India's oldest living cultures.

Highlights

  • Authentic weekly tribal haat
  • Bonda & Gadaba communities
  • Handwoven cloth & forest produce
  • Living culture, not a show

Please visit with consent and care: always ask before photographing people, buy something from the sellers, don't offer money for photos, and follow your guide's lead. We run this experience the ethical way — with respect for the community.
