A sacred limestone cave shrine to Lord Shiva, hidden in forest near Jeypore.
Gupteswar is a natural limestone cave enshrining a Shiva lingam that devotees believe is slowly growing. Reached by a flight of steps through dense forest beside the Kolab river, it is calm and atmospheric for most of the year — and thronged with pilgrims at Maha Shivaratri.
Limestone formations, resident bats and the cool, dim interior give the cave a genuinely otherworldly feel. It is one of Koraput's most important pilgrimage sites.
